The Election of 1800 poem assignment

1. You are to write a rhyming poem of at least 10 lines. You may write more if you feel so inspired.

2. A line is a complete thought, so if it wraps down to a second line on the page, (like this one does) that is still one line.

3. Your poem must contain at least one of each of the following, glossed accordingly:

Ø Simile - Orange

Ø Metaphor - Green

Ø Repetition for effect - Yellow

Ø Alliteration - Blue

Ø Personification - Red

4. You will be expected to recite at least 4 lines of your poem to the class.

5. You are asked to please type the poem. Please do so double spaced, in a simple font 12 – 14.

6. If you would like to skim over the Smithsonian Magazine article that I read excerpts from, it is available here: http://www.kindapush.com/documents/SmithsonianElection1800.pdf

7. This assignment is due in class on Thursday, December 13, 2012
