The de Moya Foundation is a 501 (3) (c) charitable trust, which will work to raise awareness, create and support programs for children and young adults with unique abilities, special needs and their families. We believe that persons with unique abilities and special needs can benefit from post-secondary learning experiences and lifetime learning programs that will assist them in becoming employed, independent and self-sufficient. This will develop a sense of self-worth and help them reach their maximum potential in life.

The Foundation will provide scholarships for students interested in the Engineering and Construction industries, who need financial support, tutoring, or employment support to succeed in preparing for competitive employment in the road and bridge construction industry.

The Armando J. de Moya Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $5,000.00 to an undergraduate student who wishes to pursue a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, has obtained a high school diploma, graduated with a 3.5 GPA or higher, needs financial support to pursue his/her studies and is enrolled in the University of Florida, Gainesville.

REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS

Incomplete applications or applications that do not meet eligibility criteria will not be considered for this scholarship.

In addition to the award requirements the student must:

·  Maintain a 3.0 GPA at the University of Florida (UF)

·  Be a Florida resident

·  Be enrolled full time in the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 semesters

·  Be a high school senior or above

·  Have a financial need

·  Use the $5,000 award towards tuition, books, housing, or other educational expenses

INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS WITH YOUR APPLICATION:

·  2014 IRS Income Tax Form

·  At least two (2) academic letters of reference

·  High school transcript

·  College/university transcript (if applicable)

·  Copies of awards, honors, etc.

·  Proof of volunteer work (signed work logs, letters from organizations, etc.)

·  Proof of enrollment in the University of Florida (UF) for the Fall 2015 semester
