Mike Lange & Boogie Express have been playing boogie woogie, swing, and blues in the mid-Atlantic region since 1993. This 5-piece powerhouse band features seasoned professionals that believe in keepin' the dance party rollin'. The band's instrumentation includes piano, saxophone, guitar, bass, and drums. Mike Lange & Boogie Express have been in demand since their inception and have been featured on numerous radio stations in the area including WRNR, WPFW, WTMD, and WHFS.

The band specializes in high energy, up-tempo, jump blues and swing. Examples of this genre include Louis Prima's "Jump Jive & Wail", Louis Jordan's "Choo Choo Chaboogie" and Roy Brown's classic "Good Rockin' Tonight". Concentrating on this form of music leads to a very lively performance. This band is fun to watch! There are no still toes in the Boogie Express' audience.

The band is also amazingly adept at adapting to the mood of the audience. If the crowd wants to rock'n'roll, they will not be disappointed. The Boogie Express has a vast repertoire of rock'n'roll classics like Jerry Lee Louis' "Great Balls of Fire", Little Richard's "Good Golly Miss Molly", Frankie Ford's "Sea Cruise", and Joe Turner's "Shake Rattle & Roll". The songs are played with an intensity that is known for bringing the crowd to a frenzy.

Mike has been playing the piano since 1967. Over the years he has performed with many of the area's top bands both as a member and as a highly sought after freelance musician. For several years prior to Boogie Express, Mike performed as the lead vocalist and pianist for Loaded Roller, a popular band on the club and swing dance circuit. In 1992 Mike left Loaded Roller to form his own band, the Boogie Express.

The Boogie Express is proud to have a regular lineup that includes some of the area's top veteran musicians. The band relies heavily on the skills of Saxophonist Phil Portner. Phil's unique combination of intense performing and authentic sound consistently win over audiences. Guitarist Phil Gardner is widely known as a musician's musician. He has played and recorded with some of the areas top bands for several decades. In addition to guitar, Phil is also showcased on trumpet and harmonica. The rhythm section consists of two rock solid veterans, drummer Mike D'Amato and bassist Jeff Stearn. Mike D'Amato has logged hundreds of gigs with Mike Lange since joining forces in 1989. In addition to performing with top regional acts like Jesse Yawn, the Soul Providers, and DC Motors, bassist Jeff Stearn has backed up national touring artists such as Bo Diddley.
