Principal Accountabilities
Teaching & Learning / ·  To plan and deliver learning and assessment that inspires and motivates learners.
·  To plan and deliver learning that develops the knowledge, vocational skills and (if appropriate to a Study Programme): English and maths skills; employability skills; and prepares learners for work experience.
·  To develop, and share with colleagues, new learning materials including the use of e-resources.
·  To provide assessment for learning and assessment of learning feedback that meets college and awarding organisation standards and provide timely feedback that strengthens learning.
Management of Learning / ·  Specific roles of a teacher may include:

·  To work collaboratively with colleagues, managers and external stakeholders to enhance the existing curriculum and develop new learning programmes focused on progression to further study and employment.
·  To provide academic and pastoral tutorial support as required.
·  To set and review individual learners targets and action plans to monitor learner progress and help learners manage their route to success.
·  To work closely with Student Services staff to maximise student success.
·  To develop systems and materials that support the management of learning including schemes of work, assessment schedules, pre-entry and interview processes, induction, course handbooks and tutorial systems
·  To cover for short-term absence as required. Please see the cover policy.
Organisational / ·  To provide effective information, advice and guidance for applicants and existing students.
·  To guide and support new students through induction.
·  To maintain accurate records (e.g., session registers, learner assessment, learner targets and learner reports) and meet requests for information in a timely manner.
·  To implement relevant College policies including the Student Code of Conduct and the Student Disciplinary Policy.
Team Development / ·  To contribute to the setting, reviewing and achievement of team targets and development plans.
·  To contribute positively to self-assessment, quality improvement action plans and other quality systems.
·  To work in partnership as appropriate and take a pro-active role in enhancing the reputation of the College.

·  respond to any incidents that may arise

·  deal with any queries or complaints (where staff require assistance from a manager)

All staff at grade LC6 or those on spot salaries are expected to fulfil this key responsibility. Full training and support will be provided.

Safeguarding

All staff who teach, train or work regularly with children aged up to 18 and vulnerable adults are required to comply fully with legislation and College policies and practices to ensure learners are safeguarded and protected.
