RE: Awarding of Bakery Bids

Bids for Bread & Bakery Products were due on April 19, 2012. The Food Service Directors met on May 16, 2012 to go over the bids and make recommendations.

Our sole bidder was Aunt Millie’s Bakery. Of special concern during our evaluations was Aunt Millie’s addendum’s to the bid regarding product availability and delivery days and times. Clarification on product availability was requested and received. Aunt Millie’s also re-structured their routes and has changed South Central, West Central and MSD of New Durham’s delivery to an afternoon time-frame from AM delivery last year. Food Service Directors expressed concern over personnel not being available to check in the order and the delivery arriving during student dismissal. These concerns were shared with Aunt Millie’s and we contacted Kyle Marthen. They agreed to deliver orders by 2:00 to those schools they designated as afternoon delivery to address the concerns expressed by the schools. MSD of New Durham and South Central both requested delivery by 1:00 PM due to staffing. Aunt Millie’s agreed to these terms and conditions.

New to the bid this year is an opportunity to renew this bid for an additional year if prices do not increase. We will also review past service at that time as well before this bid is renewed.
