Welcome to the Rapid City High School. Thank you so much for agreeing to substitute in my classroom. I hope you have an enjoyable day. To help your day run more smoothly, please read the following information.

Call the office using intercom 311 if you have an emergency!

Teacher mailboxes are located in the main office. Please check the teacher's mail in the morning and at lunch.

Students have four minutes of passing time between classes. Once the bell has rung, please close your door and begin class. Please take attendance on Skyward. If a student is not in class by the time the second bell rings, he/she is considered tardy. A student arriving 15 minutes or later after a class begins is considered absent. (Please make a note to the teacher letting him/her know that is what occurred. If the student arrives after class has started, please have them print their name and the time arrived on the RCHS sign in form.

Classroom rules are posted _________________________________________

Please ask the secretary Linda (in the main office) for the daily announcements if she has not given them to you. Student announcements will be read during 2nd period. You may want to read them to other classes.

If a student needs to use the restroom or to get a drink during class, he/she must sign out on the student sign-out sheet. The student must attach the hall pass to his/her lanyard in order to leave the classroom. Make sure the student returns the pass to you. Only one student should leave the class at a time. The student must also sign in when he/she returns to class.

Please do not tell students to leave your classroom. If there is an issue and a student should be sent from the room, call the main office at intercom 100 and tell the secretary you are sending a student to the main office. If a student walks out of class, you will also need to contact the office at intercom 100 to tell administration a student walked out.

If a student says he/she needs to leave class early, the student must be sent to the main office for approval.

If a student asks to go to another room for any reason, please call that staff member before letting students go to make sure it is OK.

Check to see that all students are wearing their RCHS ID at the beginning of each class. If a student is not wearing his/her ID, send the student to the main office. Students must wear their IDs on their person at all times on a lanyard. If a student has a temporary ID, it must be worn on the student’s chest.

Please be aware of computer rules posted in the classroom.

White passes (Excuse within Building) and a pad of green passes (Excuse from Building) are located ___________________________________________________________. The green passes (Excuse from Building) are used should a student need to get books or assignments from his/her car. (This is a rare occurrence.) Students must have a white pass (Excuse within Building) written and signed by the teacher in order to go to the office, to go to another teacher's room, etc. Please fill the pass out completely. If you send a student to the office, please include the reason on the pass.

All teachers have a list of phone intercom numbers posted in the classroom should you need to call the office or another teacher. This list can be found ______________________

_________________________________________________________________. To use the phone intercom, pick up the handset, press the intercom button and then dial the number you need. After the buzz, you should ask for the person you are calling. If you receive a call on the intercom, please pick up the handset to respond to the caller.

To make an outside call from the classroom, dial 99 followed by the local number you want to reach.

If there is an emergency in the classroom, you can quickly page the office by pushing the phone intercom button and press 311.

If the teacher you are substituting for receives a homework request or a request for work for a student in ISS, send the same work as the class is working on. If a textbook is sent to a student, be sure to record the book number, the student's name, and where you are sending the book on a book check-out card. Book check-out cards are located _________________________
