Manage the Student Activities Budget of $250K and supervise the financial management of the Student Blanket Tax Organizations. Supervise Student Life Department Coordinator. Advise the student leadership and programming development of the Student Association, and support all Student Blanket Tax Organizations. Advise the student leadership and programming development of the Graduate Student Association, and oversee Graduate Student Orientation. Approve student-sponsored events using alcohol in compliance with the Rice University Alcohol Policy and serve on the Alcoholic Beverage Policy Advisory Committee. Oversee the use of campus facilities, fundraising/solicitation, and contractual agreements relative to all student organizations. Foster responsible and servant leadership among student leaders and facilitate the Annual Leadership Retreat and other educational leadership programs. Advised student leaders at the student-run, Rice Coffeehouse, in continual development of operation, products, services, staff supervision, budget management and programs with a student staff of twenty. Successfully transformed a 5-year deficit operation to profitable. Created and coordinated the engineering, science and technology leadership program, Schlumberger Initiative for Women, funded by a $15,000 annual corporate grant. Established and directed the budget management and fund development, staff supervision and program development of the Women’s Resource Center. Coordinated the budget management and advised the student leadership of the Student Center Advisory Board, Rice Program Council, and ADVANCE. Implemented the first transition of the Student Center facilities reservation process to a computerized system. Developed and implemented special events in the Student Center complex. Served on various University committee appointments including the Orientation Steering Committee, Ad Hoc Judicial Affairs Committee, Student Affairs Professional Development Committee, University Health Fair Planning Committee, HIV/AIDS Awareness Week Committee, Unity through Diversity Week Committee and Rice University Women’s Commission. RESIDENCE LIFE

Resident Associate, Harry Clay Hanszen Residential College, Rice University, July 1996 – July 2002.

Assist the College Masters in supporting social, cultural and intellectual activities. Co-facilitate Orientation Week activities. Provide academic and personal counseling and leadership to college members. Provide developmental programming assisted by the Counseling Center and Health Education as well as other Student Affairs Departments. Assist the College Masters in crisis management including fire evacuation, student injuries, and legal assistance. Create Resident Associate Training Manual and Job Description.

House Director, Sigma Kappa Sorority Delta Sigma Chapter, Western Illinois University, Fall 1994 - Spring 1995.

Counseled, mentored, and served as a resource to all initiated members and new members. Served as a liaison between the undergraduate chapter and the sorority employees. Supervised the conduct of the house residents and maintenance of a healthy, cooperative living environment. Oversaw the administrative opening and closing of the house.

ACUHO-I Intern, Department of Housing and Residential Life, California Polytechnic State University, Summer 1994.

Assisted the Assistant Director of Housing and Residential Life on summer programs. Researched, co-established, and marketed Cal Poly's First - Year Experience Halls for Fall 1994. Served as Departmental liaison to the Upward Bound Program. Developed a departmental leadership manual and marketing strategy for the Multicultural House. Created an awareness resource guide for resident advisors on National Coming Out Day. Created a Departmental Intern Resource Manual.

FIPSE California State Universities (CSU) Housing Consortium, Contributor, California State Universities, Summer 1994.

Researched data and programs aimed at preventing AOD abuse on college campuses. Worked with 19 CSU Housing Departments to evaluate and recommend alcohol and other drug policies and programs. Co-authored the publication, Alcohol Abuse Concerns Among College Students.

Provide year-round support and team development training to highly structured residency program sponsored by the Rice University Center for Education. Facilitate a two-day retreat with residents to prepare them for team teaching in the urban classroom setting.
