Course Requirements:

Students must attend all hours of classes and must take and pass an “open book” final examination during the last hour of the course. The final examination consists of three-four essay questions. The Grade will be based on student’s understanding of concepts presented in class and his/her ability to apply those concepts to small business examples. To be counted as present, students must sign the attendance role at each class.

Objectives:

The main objective of all the Small Business Classes is to provide the information and tools needed for students to successfully manage or work with a small business.

Grading:

Students will receive a grade of “CREDIT (CR) or “NO CREDIT” (NC) upon completion of the course. Each course completed with a CR is one-half unit. Students who have successfully completed all 12 courses are entitled to receive a certificate in Small Business Management

Registration:

Registration for the Small Business Classes (2-week) is open at all times. Students are encouraged to register at the campus OR at the first class of each course. The Instructor will make every effort to register a student if they are there on the first day of class during the first break.

Student Materials:

Starting and Managing a Small Business by former Instructor Randall Shores is available in the bookstore for $39.99. It is highly recommended. PowerPoint slides are available at http://busdiv-iis.solano.cc.ca.us/ on the “g” and “h” drive at the Main Campus under the epratt file folder. Students will be encouraged to take notes from the power points of the Instructor and materials from guest speakers.
