Soar to New Heights-A STEM-ulating Adventure!
Dear Parent or Guardian,
It is almost summer time, and it’s also time for your child to learn something new and exciting as they Soar to New Heights! The Eastern Kentucky University Gifted and Talented Education graduate students, in collaboration with EKU faculty, invite your child to our fifth annual summer camp for Gifted and Talented students in grades 4-6. This year the camp will have a STEM-H (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Health) focus that will effectively challenge and motivate your gifted and talented child.
As you view the brochure, you will learn about the following courses:
Science on the Move
Explore the Universe: The Solar System
Forensic Science
Space Odyssey
Lego – Robotics
Each course is designed to nurture critical and creative thinking while inspiring new learning. We are fortunate to have EKU faculty as mentors this year as well as the opportunity to utilize an amazing learning environment. The new Science Building on EKU’s campus is truly remarkable as it creates an atmosphere of curiosity and creativity.
Camp dates are June 18 – 29, 2012 from 8:00-12:00. Please note that the completed registration and payment must be post-marked no later than May 7, 2012. Participants will have the opportunity to take two different courses during the 2-week camp, but a class size has been established for each in order to maximize your child’s learning experience. Therefore, we request that each student select his/her top three course choices to better ensure a good match between student interest and class availability. Students will be placed in courses in the order registrations are received.
