Shurley English level 7 is designed to give your student a solid foundation in language arts with repetition of grammar basics as well as practicing the application of these fundamentals in various types of writing. This course will review and reinforce sentence types, parts of speech, sentence structure, capitalization, punctuation, quotations, and correct language usage. We will also practice various writing types and read at least two books a semester. Grammar, composition, and vocabulary come to life when paired with excellent literature! The class will read and discuss novels which are sure to expand their imagination as well as their skills in communication arts.

Homework / Tests / Grading: Check the website after each class period for detailed homework instructions and class summary (www.behrensatbrightonkc.weebly.com). Generally, smaller assignments are given on Mondays, due Wednesdays and practice tests and essays are assigned Wednesdays and due on Mondays. Grading is primarily based on completion of homework assignments and is worth 25 points. Additionally, there are end of quarter comprehension tests worth 50-100 points as well as essay projects based on the novels that are worth 100 completion points.

Required supplies:

Spiral notebook for vocabulary work; small binder with pockets and loose leaf paper for notes and handouts; pen (blue or black ink), pencil.
