Science Current Events Project

Directions

1. Find 1 article from a newspaper or a magazine, not the Internet, about current science issues. Examples include medical discoveries, the science of sports, cloning, earth science topics such as earthquakes and volcanoes, space, etc.

2. Fill out the Prove It handout for each article.

3. Attach the original article, not a copy, to your Prove It handout and turn in to Ms. Mulready on the due date.

*** Please start looking for your articles well in advance of the due date so you are not rushing to finish the assignment the night before it is due. ***

Ideas for finding articles

· Buy one newspaper per week ($0.50 on weekdays)

· Borrow a neighbor’s newspaper

· Science Magazines – Examples: National Geographic, American Scientist, Nature, etc…

When is it due?

· There will be a current events project due every 2 weeks on Friday (charger day’s)

· The assignment is due on Oct 1st, Oct 15th and Oct 29th

· Future Due dates will be announced on the cluster blog

How are you graded?

· Did you answer all questions on the Prove It handout thoughtfully? (50 pts)

· Did you attach original articles that are related to science?

(40 pts)

· Did you write in complete sentences and use correct grammar?

(10 pts)
