SUBJECT: Welcome Letter, Fort Bliss NCOA Master Leader Course (MLC)
On behalf of Command Sergeant Major Patrick Kelly, we would like to congratulate you on your selection to attend the Master Leader Course occurring 08-23 November 2017 at the Fort Bliss NCOA. The MLC is a 15-day resident course focusing on leadership, management, operations, joint operations, Soldier readiness, and communications that assist in preparing you to transition from a tactical leader to an operational leader. Prospective students will benefit from a review of the following publications: ADP 3-0, ADP 5-0 ADP 6-0, and ADP 6-22.
Your unit Pre-execution checklist (TRADOC Form 350-18-2-R-E dated May 2016) is due to 15 day prior to your arrival. Ensure that you have a current APFT and DA5500/5501. If you have a permeant profile that requires special arrangements your profile needs to be submitted with your packet.
You are to report to the Fort Bliss NCOA, Building 2E Sheridan Rd at 1500 on 08 November 2017 room 165 on the first floor. At this time, you will meet your facilitators and receive an orientation, conduct in processing, and receive classroom assignments and parking instructions. Please note the following:
1. The duty uniform is the Army Combat Uniform (OCP/UCP).
2. Your Facilitators can be reached by contacting the MLC office at (915) 568-1256 or visiting the MLC NCOA Blackboard website at: MLC Course
3. You must log in to the Fort Bliss MLC Blackboard page and self-enroll for the course. To enroll in MLC, use the following instructions:
a. Visit the Fort Bliss MLC Blackboard page
b. Sign in with your CAC.
c. At the top of the page, click the link for Courses
d. Under the Course Catalog heading, click the link for MLC
e. Mouse over the link to the Fort Bliss MLC Resident Student Course. Click the chevron to see the option to enroll.
f. On the Self Enrollment page, click the green Submit button.
g. Once you see the Action Successful message, click OK to enter the course.
4. Once your enrollment is approved, you will find instructions for your Prerequisite Expository Essay. Follow the instructions on the Blackboard page and submit your essay no later than 10 duty days before your report date to class.
5. Minimum items required upon your arrival:
a. CAC (ID).
b. Three copies of your Military orders (DD Form 1610) (TDY only).
c. Army Combat Uniform (OCP/UCP), Improved Physical Fitness Uniform (IPFU) complete with reflective belt, black fleece cap, black gloves, Army Service Uniform (ASU).
d. Completed TASS Pre-execution checklist found on the Fort Bliss NCOA academy website, (TF 350-18-2-R-E, May 2016).
e. Copy of any physical profiles, DA Form 705, DA Form 5500/5501 body fat worksheet (if required).
f. Copy of most current ERB.
g. You will conduct height/weight screening (no spandex) and an APFT will be administered. The uniform will be APFU to include ID card.
6. Additional Information:
MLC classroom instruction will be conducted through weekends and any training holidays. You will be facilitated by MSG Stewart, MSG Crosby, MSG Aceves and MSG Phillip.
TDY Soldiers: Arrange lodging through the Holiday Inn Express/ IHG Army Hotels on Fort Bliss at (915) 565-7777 ensure that you tell them you are attending the MLC course. Meals are not provided. Make plans to arrive early on 08 November to become familiar with Fort Bliss and the NCOA location. If you are flying, the closest airport is El Paso International Airport (ELP). Graduation is scheduled for 1000 on 22 November 2017. This time can change and you should not plan on flying out before 1500 on graduation day. All meals are provided in accordance with Fort Bliss travel guidance.
