Required Geometry Supplies:

Calculator (see below)

Ruler

Protractor (preferably clear)

Compass

Colored Pencils

Graph Paper

Three ring binder

Mechanical pencils are preferred

On certain tests/quizzes the calculator will be restricted. Some tests/quizzes will allow the use of calculators. Students should purchase a calculator that has trig functions (there should be a SIN, COS, and TAN key.) Below are the calculators that I recommend:

- TI 83, TI 84 or other graphing calculator

- TI-30X IIB (This calculator can be found for around $10-15)

While any calculator with trig functions will work, I am requesting that your child own one of these. Most Casio and some of the other TI brand calculators are not as user friendly when it comes to using the trig ratios. Students that have the calculators that I am listing usually perform better on the trig chapters.

If your child is planning on attending college and it’s within budget, I would recommend buying a graphing calculator (TI 83 or TI 84). If that is not an option, than be sure to at least have a TI-30X IIB.

TI-30X IIB TI 83 TI 84

I would not recommend buying the TI Inspire or any calculator with a full keyboard as some standardized tests do not allow the use of these calculators.

Requested Classroom Supplies

Note: The following supplies are shared with the class and beneficial to everyone. No one is required to bring these in, but they are appreciated and if I have abundance I will share them with other teachers.

Tissues (we always run out in January)

Hand Sanitizer

Candy (to be given out as a reward)

A box of pencils

Stay up to date:

Be sure to check out my website and stay up to date with your child’s assignments. I will often upload worksheets that can be downloaded. This is helpful for absent students or those that lose their assignment.

Also, please be sure to sign up for Powerschool in the main office. This will allow you to track the progress of your child throughout the grading period.

Thank you,

Mr. Burnette
