NOTE: The Microsoft Office Suite is NOT included in the available software. Microsoft Office 365 is available through the College at no cost, click here.

If you have the Home or Student Version of Microsoft Office 2010, 2013 or 2016; you can obtain Microsoft Access and One Note.

Most products require a Product ID or Serial Number to install. You can see the Product ID when you order the software by clicking on the link to “details” at the end of the checkout procedure. Print or write them down and store it securely, access is only available during the current semester.


How to Obtain your free microsoft software

The IT and Business Division of the Virginia Beach Campus of Tidewater Community College subscribes to the Microsoft Developers’ Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA), managed by “Microsoft Imagine”. As a member of this alliance, the Division can offer its students access to certain Microsoft products that are being utilized in the classroom.

The process of obtaining software is automated. In the fourth week of each semester, students enrolled in qualified ITD, ITE, ITN, ITP, and CSC classes that are more than 2 credits are eligible to download Microsoft products. Dynamic classes and second eight week classes will be eligible after the second week of the class.

How to Obtain your password for the DREAMSPARK site

An email will be sent to your VCCS mailbox. This e-mail will invite you to register. During the registration process you will create your own password.

You can access your mailbox through TCC’s home page: http://www.tcc.edu. Click on the myTCC button, enter your TCC username and password, and then click on Gmail.

Locate the email from: “Tidewater Community College – Information Technology” with a subject line of “An account has been created for you”. A link to the “Microsoft Imagine” website is included. Once you click the link you will be prompted to register and create your own password. Write it down! (This email may go to your junk or spam folder.)

Please note: Your username and password for the Microsoft Imagine website is NOT the same as your TCC username and password. Your Microsoft Imagine username is your VCCS email account (ex: ).

If you were enrolled in the previous semester in an IT class at the Virginia Beach campus, you will receive an email letting you know your account has been reactivated. You will use the same password as last semester

Under Username enter your VCCS e-mail address (Ex: ) and then click “Forgot your password”. An e-mail will be sent to you VCCS e-mail account with instructions on resetting your password.

How to use the MICROSOFT IMAGINE Site to OBtain MSDNAA Software

Once you receive your welcome email from Tidewater Community College – Information Technology, you can login and download software.

Your login name is your VCCS e-mail address (Ex: ). Your password will be the one you created during the registration process. Once in the site, you can change your password by clicking on “Your Account” at the top of the screen and then the Change Password link..

To obtain software, click on the Software tab. Select a category of the software you are looking for or “All” at the bottom. Software may be downloaded directly to your computer, or some may allow you to purchase a mail-order copy on CD/DVD for a nominal price. Regardless of whether you are purchasing or obtaining for free, add the product to your cart.

This software can ONLY be used on YOUR personal computer for the purposes of studying and school research. You cannot give or sell the software to anyone else or install it on any other computers. It cannot be used on a business computer. You will have to accept the End User License Agreement (EULA), ensure you read it thoroughly.
