FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RECOGNITION FROM THE WHITE HOUSE

In the wake of the North American Leaders' Summit in Toluca, Mexico, a fact sheet released by the White House Office of the Press Secretary gave special recognition to the cross-border efforts of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region.

The fact sheet, which announced initiatives from the Summit, specifically pointed to highly integrated economic regions such as the Pacific Northwest Economic Region as the U.S., Canada and Mexico look towards the creation of a Trilateral Research, Development and Innovation Council.

"It is a true honor for our organization to be held up as an example to the rest of the world by Presidents Obama, Nieto and Prime Minister Harper," said PNWER President Kevin Ranker. "We are proud of PNWER and the wonderful people in our organization who are doing exciting things throughout our region every day to make it stronger and even more prosperous."

"It is great to see White House recognition for the consistent work that PNWER's member states and provinces have done throughout the years, especially on innovation and regional economic development," said Matt Morrison, PNWER's CEO.

The Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) is a statutory public / private non-profit created in 1991 by the states of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Washington, the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
