Project Rubric given: 10/20/2014

Name:______

Traveling West in a Covered Wagon

Objective: Students will create a 3-D model of a covered wagon and write a response paper describing the obstacles pioneers faced while traveling west in order to become more aware of the life of a pioneer during westward expansion.

Guidelines:

1. Your covered wagon must be 3-dimensional. This means it needs to have a front, back, and sides. It cannot be a drawing on a piece of paper.

2. Your covered wagon can be created with materials of all sorts.

·  Use your creativity and have fun!

·  Your 3-dimensional models must be realistic.

3. Your representations of the covered wagon should also include objects or a list of materials that the pioneers would need on their journey.

Example: The pioneers would need jugs to carry water.

4. A response paper should also be included with your 3-dimensional model of your covered wagon.

The student should respond to the statement below.

Describe the obstacles that pioneers faced, and suggest possible ways to overcome them while traveling west.

You will use the attached rubric to guide you while completing the project. You will turn in your copy of the rubric when you turn in your 3-D model. This sheet will be used to record your grade.
