Videos
School staff need to be quite clear that videos. which they choose to show their pupils are in line with their School’s SRE policy. We recommend that governors and parents/carers are given opportunities in advance to view the videos before they are shown to pupils.
BBC Ourselves for 5 – 7 year olds contains 3 programmes covering what goes into your body, friends, feelings, taking risks and more.
BBC Growing up for upper primary contains 3 programmes covering physical changes during puberty, feelings during puberty and changing relationships.
Channel 4 All About Us include videos and teachers’ handbooks on growth, reproduction and relationships. Teachers might consider using some of the material in the video for the age group above the one recommended on the cover e.g. some of Unit 1 may be more appropriate for 7 – 9 year olds.
The Emotional Literacy Hour, Lucky Duck Publishing offers a range of Circle Time sessions from Foundation to Key Stage 3 - stimulating viewing for staff.
