Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Social and Community Reintegration Research

Job Description: We are seeking a full-time Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to conduct psychosocial rehabilitation and community reintegration research in the Social and Community Reintegration Research Program at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA. The goal of the program is to train clinical researchers with a strong passion for and track record in research in community reintegration research. In additional to mentoring and didactics in research skills, the Fellow will be part of the research team conducting two pilot research projects. Pilot Project 1 focuses on the educational and unmet mental health care needs of returning Veterans enrolled on college campuses. The goal is to facilitate awareness and access to treatment for relevant mental and physical health concerns by providing supported education services to improve educational and clinical outcomes. Pilot Project 2 focuses on developing and evaluating the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Improving Social Support for Veterans with PTSD (ACT-SS). This treatment will help Veterans with PTSD to increase social support in family relationships, and with partners and peers by targeting maladaptive patterns of interpersonal difficulties, feelings of detachment from others, irritability, and avoidance of social situations. The Fellow will be encouraged to get involved in other research projects within the Center, including a project on measuring community reintegration. Although the fellowship is research-focused (and not an APA-accredited clinical residency), the Fellow will receive both research and clinical supervision. The Fellow, along with a research assistant, will be involved in the day-to-day aspects of these two pilot projects. With supervision from the Principal Investigator of each project, this individual will be responsible for supervising recruitment and data collection, providing clinical services as part of the research, supervising data management and analysis, and assisting in the preparation of research findings in the form of manuscripts and conference presentations. This individual will also be guided in and assist with preparation of grant applications. Annual stipend for a full-time PhD-level candidate is $46,320 and $48,824 for the second year, with benefits.

Requirements: Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology; strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
