Major Extension Programs

Responsible for the Extension education and field research efforts related to production and marketing of dryland and irrigated field crops for large and small commercial farms in Wasco County, Oregon. As a part of this position, I have established the Columbia Basin alternative and rotational crops research project exploring new crop options, their local, regional and international markets, value-added options and use as potential livestock feed. I also conduct the Mid-Columbia Small Farms program in cooperation with area OSU and WSU Extension Agents providing small farms educational programs, edit the Mid-Columbia Small Farms & Acreage bi-monthly newsletter (electronic and paper copy) and the Mid-Columbia Small Farms & Acreage website that hosts the newsletter and serves as a library of small farms technical articles. I also provide leadership in cooperation with other Mid-Columbia economic development agencies to promote agricultural diversity and sustainability in the region.
