POSITION AND APPOINTMENT

Non-tenure track 10 month academic term faculty position, beginning August 1, 2017, at 100% time in the Department of Physiology, School of Medicine, in the general area of anatomy and physiology.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND POSITION

Teaching: Providing instruction to undergraduate, pre-professional and graduate students in a lecture and laboratory setting and tutoring medical students in the first year medical curricula. Areas of instruction will include human structural and functional anatomy. Duties also include: lecturing in introductory and advanced anatomy course; management of the human cadaver laboratory; development of lab exercises and related instructional materials; and delivering lectures in other established and new anatomy and physiology courses as needed, including development of new on-line courses.

Service: The faculty member is expected to participate in service activities beneficial to the department. Serve on departmental undergraduate committees/ExO. Demonstrates, by actions, commitment to the mission and the behavioral standards of SIU School of Medicine. Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers through collaboration and partnership; compassion and respect; integrity and accountability; diversity and inclusion; as well as continuous learning and improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree or equivalent education in physiology, anatomy or related field. May 2017 graduates will be considered. A sound knowledge of advanced human anatomy is required. Experience with human cadaver dissection is required, and an anatomy certificate is preferred. Previous teaching experience in undergraduate physiology and/or anatomy and digital instruction is strongly preferred.

This is a security sensitive position. Before any offer of employment is made, the University will conduct a pre-employment background investigation which includes a criminal background check.

SALARY

Salary will be commensurate with education, experience and established School of Medicine guidelines.
