POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title / Manufacturing Mechanical Design Tech.

Reports to / Manager – Special Projects
FLSA Status / Full-Time/Exempt

Job Summary: Designs, develops, and reviews the routing/layout of various mechanical system for manufacturing facility.

Essential Responsibilities/Activities:

·  Must be able to conceptualize, design, and develop original designs of workable product from verbal instructions and general sketches to improve safety of operations, durability, dependability, efficiency and economy of manufacture or repair

·  Use computer software to develop and maintain facility designs in 2D and 3D

·  Use computer software to design facility refrigeration and water piping and mechanical systems

·  New building and remodel construction design

·  New manufacturing line/process layout/design

·  Prepare engineering drawings, layouts and schematics using computer aided design software.

·  Create Bills of Material (BOM)

·  Select materials for engineered parts

·  Dimension and tolerance drawings to ensure proper assembly fit

·  Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing general requirements for discussions with Owners, Contractors, Architects, and Code Authorities

·  Knowledge of fabrication materials and techniques (metals, bushings, bearings, etc.)

·  Completes designs and detailed drawings within the planned time schedule as required for customer orders

·  Communicates with manufacturers to gather necessary information about parts and applications

·  Confers with engineering management to complete assigned projects

·  Provides complete bill of material by defining when, where, and why parts are used

·  Maintains and builds professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional societies

·  Travel, when necessary, for third party testing or product review at field test sites

Education and Experience Requirements:

Degree(s): Two year technical degree or equivalent experience

License(s): None

Certification(s): None

·  Two-year technical degree preferred.

·  Must have AutoCAD Mechanical and Inventor experience.

Essential Physical Functions:

·  Lift up to 50lbs.

·  Sit or stand for up to 95 percent of work hours.

·  Periodic visits to manufacturing facility with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
