Degree and area of specialization:

* Earned research doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in Nursing or related field required.

* If earned research doctorate is not in nursing, graduate degree in nursing is preferred.

* Post-doctoral training preferred.

License/certification:

* Eligibility for Registered Nurse licensure in Wisconsin is required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

* Three or more years of experience or combined education and experience in conducting health-related research projects;

* A record of research publication;

* One or more years of experience or combined education and experience in teaching at undergraduate or graduate levels I nursing or health related field.

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in leading an active program of research that generates new knowledge about improving behavioral, mental, or physical health across the lifespan for one or more populations, or improving community or health care delivery services or systems. Research programs should be consistent with national nursing, public health, behavioral health, mental health, health care, or health systems priorities for extramural funding. Research faculty candidates with programs focused on generating new knowledge in one or more of the following areas or approaches are highly encouraged to apply:

* Symptom science or palliative care;

* Advancing health equity and social justice, improving population health, addressing the social determinants of health, and improving global health;

* Psychiatric/mental health/behavioral health nursing; and/or,

* Health care quality or patient safety using informatics or large data analytic approaches.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise to contribute to the teaching mission of the School of Nursing. Experience with active learning strategies, co-teaching, and interprofessional student teams is desirable.

Appointments at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor ranks are possible. For appointments at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, a substantial nationally recognized record of research, publication, teaching, and service meeting criteria for a tenured faculty position at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will be required.

Position Summary:

Tenure-track faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing conduct research, teach courses, mentor graduate students, and contribute to school, university, community, and professional activities through service. Tenure-track faculty members are expected to positively contribute to School of Nursing and University of Wisconsin-Madison goals for diversity, inclusion, and justice.

Principal duties:

Conceptualizing, designing, and conducting research studies, managing research staff, complying with research compliance policies, disseminating research results, and seeking research funding are expected.

Teaching at baccalaureate and graduate levels of nursing, and may include co-teaching in active learning environments, and with inter-professional students and faculty. Research mentoring of PhD students will be required.

Tenure-track faculty members are expected to positively contribute to School of Nursing and University of Wisconsin-Madison goals for diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

Engagement in providing professional development activities such as speaking at conferences or conducting workshops is expected.

Serving on school and university committees, is expected, commensurate with appointment.
