ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION

TITLE: School Psychologist - (1 position)

REPORTS TO: Dr. Mary Anne Morris, Chief of Pupil Services

FUNDING: General Funds

SALARY: $60,337.00 (Step 1) $79,167.00 (Step 12) depending on training and experience.

WORK SCHEDULE: Unit A Teacher’s Schedule

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. GENERAL DUTIES: Be directly responsible to the Chief of Pupil Services or designee.
  2. Administer comprehensive psych educational assessments that address the areas of suspected disability.
  3. Write comprehensive and professional reports on assessment results that provide recommendations for services and supports to address areas of concern.
  4. Participate in 603 CMR Team meetings as an evaluator to help determine special education eligibility.
  5. Work in collaboration with school adjustment counselors, principals and other staff members.

6.  Provide professional development to staff on topics relevant to special education and school psychology

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  1. Certified as a School Psychologist by the Massachusetts Department of Education.
  1. Licensing as an Educational Psychologist by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Allied Mental Health is preferred.
  1. Prefer three years, on a full-time basis, as a psychologist dealing with problems of children of school age. One of these years should have been in a school setting. A year of suitable internship experience may be counted toward the three year requirement.
  1. Prefer two years of successful teaching experience.
  1. Proven ability to work effectively with/for children and adults in a multi-cultural community.
  1. Empathetic to the needs of young people and adults in the area of special needs.
  1. Bilingual/Bicultural (Hispanic) is preferred, but not required.
