Spotlight on… Rochdale Young People’s Support and Guidance
The contract was procured for a period of two years with an option to extend for a further period of one year from 1st April 2016. Funding for year two of the contract was reduced by £100,000 and communicated to bidders at the time of tender. The prime objectives of the contract were:
·  To provide targeted support and guidance to enable priority groups to participate, progress and achieve in education, employment and training;
·  To provide additional, specialist support and guidance for young people, 13-24 who are cared for children/care leavers, 16-19 Special Education Needs and Disabilities
·  To track and monitor all young people’s participation
Positive Steps were the winning provider from a total of 3 submitted bids. 82% of staff employed working on this contract live locally, and all staff are paid living wage. 3 employees are through a formal apprenticeship, 18 are ex-offenders, 11 are registered disabled and 20% of BaME heritage. This fully supports the ethos of this contract engaging with hard to reach sectors of the population.
