Media Party Launches Parkland Holiday CD

[Allentown] On December 5th, the Parkland High School Music Production class will release a holiday album entitled, Parkland: A Season for Giving 2012, at a media “launch party” at Parkland High School’s Coffee House from 7:00 to 7:40. The party will allow the media to listen to the CD, interact with the students who produced the CD, and view live performances of some of the album’s tracks. All proceeds from the sale of the album will be given to the American Red Cross, specifically to aid the victims of Hurricane Sandy (http://www.redcross.org/).

Each of the ten students in the class was tasked with either producing a unique arrangement of a familiar holiday song, or creating an original song for the CD. Students used computer software, multi-track recording techniques, live performances, and synthesizer programming to realize their tracks. Each took on an organizational role such as producer, session recording leader, or being in charge of marketing and public relations for the project as well.

Dr. Scott Watson, who teaches the course, shared, “I wanted my students to become involved in a project that combines the many techniques we’ve learned in class, and allows them to use their gifts and talents to make a difference in their world. Both are important lessons.”

The CDs will be on sale for the price of $10. These CDs make the perfect holiday gift for both friends and families, and it is a great way to help families that have been affected by the storm. The album will be available for purchase at most Parkland School District winter concerts. Parkland School District concerts are free of charge and open to the public.
