Pastor’s Report –

Seminarian Dan Olvera has arrived for the summer.

First Communion – was good for a Saturday. Good attendance.

PSR has been wrapped up for the school year and had good attendance

Fundraising efforts -

Spring Fest – Estimated profit is $10000 estimate. This funding is intended for the Sisters.

Cinco de Mayo – Took in $20000. Our portion is $10000. This funding is intended for the Sisters.

BAA – Our goal this year $72400. The money in excess will be used for the kitchen remodel.

Rummage sale is right around the corner. June 7 drop off of items at the school gym and June 14 the sale.

The BREAD Nehemiah Action was May 12. Results --- 100 people in attendance, this is half of last year. Will need to review for next year.

Confirmation is on Monday, June 2. Bishop Campbell will be here to officiate.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be on Thursdays during June. When Exposition was done during Holy Week, the chapel was well attended.

June 2014 – April 2015 – getting the calendar in place for the next fiscal year. Events being posted in the office on the calendar board.

Item for consideration in the future --Catholic Credit Union. There is currently one in the Cleveland diocese. They want to expand to Columbus. Considering Christ the King to expand. Initial discovery talks are going on now to look at the possibilities. Applicants to the credit union must be attached to the parish. The credit union is run through Catholic Social Services. Biggest obstacle is the branch manager--need an individual who is bilingual, has banking industry experience and able to work for little pay. The focus of people who would use this service is those considered “unbanked”.

Finance committee meeting – discussing eliminating second collections. Not passing the basket a second time. There are currently 29 second collections during a calendar year. Would encourage to use the special collection envelop to make the donations. There is not an overwhelming amount of loose cash going to the second collection from the basket. Would need to do more to advertise how the collection is being done. Envelopes would be at the door for those who want to contribute to a second collection charity. The benefits would streamline the Mass, make counting simpler. There are other parishes in Columbus who have gone to a single collection system.

Changing out the school assistance envelope and adding the Sister assistance envelope. At this time the school gets the least amount of all the extra funds being requested. People may be more inclined to give to the Sisters. Another idea is to indicate a special week for the Sisters collection – i.e. a particular Sunday of the month.

Discussion on support for the school. Christ the King parish does support the school but the collection envelopes bring in very little money.

Lifetouch Project – retakes are possible. Contact Lifetouch. This event was very labor intensive.

Ideas have been tossed around for parents of the school—what are your children being taught? Want to communicate this to parents who are not parishioners. This could open the doors for more outreach.

Old Business

The parish council bios – Jeff Corbin’s was lost in error. There were five slots but in actuality 6 bios. Discussion now on how to add people to parish council. Argument proposed that the rules can be amended to add members to parish council. Why would you not accept a person who is willing to work? Want people to be here who want to work. Maryann Tilley will contact the people who have not been attending and determine their position on parish council.

New business

Election of officers. Maryann Tilley for chairman. Jeff Corbin for vice chairman. Connie Claprood will retain secretary.

Parish picnic – July 27 is the date. Father will get the tent ordered. Same size. Start at 2pm- 5pm. Possible bouncy slide.

Steve McIntyre farewell statement. Special Thanks to the diversity of this board.
