THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY HOSTS ITS 62ND ANNUAL SESSION AT THE HAWAII CONVENTION CENTER

Over 4,500 gather on Oahu to hear the latest in pediatric dentistry

May 18, 2009—The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) hosts its 62nd Annual Session at the Hawaii Convention Center from May 21-24, 2009. More than 4,500 attendees from all over the world will hear renowned experts on children’s oral health care and related, timely issues.

“The AAPD Annual Session has continued to grow and expand to showcase the future of pediatric dentistry,” said President Dr. Beverly A. Largent. “This year’s AAPD session is one of our largest ever, most likely a result of Hawaii being the host city and many of the attendees bringing their families and dental staffs with them.”

At the session, dentists - pediatric and general alike—learn practical tools and receive additional skills that will directly benefit millions of children nationwide. A series of courses and workshops that explore new trends in oral health care diagnosis and treatment, pediatric medicine, pediatric vaccines, sedation in the dental office, pediatric dental practice management, treatment of special needs patients, utilization of Caries Risk Assessment tools, and the dental home.

Keynote speaker Dick Morris, a prominent American political consultant and campaign strategist, will offer AAPD members an interesting commentary on today’s current state of affairs and how it impacts their offices. Morris has become a familiar figure as a commentator for the Fox News Channel and is well known for hard-hitting, nonpartisan, objective commentary about the U.S. political scene.

“This meeting hosted in wonderful Hawaii reinforces the commitment that the AAPD has in promoting and advocating for children’s oral health throughout our great country,” said AAPD CEO Dr. John S. Rutkauskas.
