Life Sciences: 3a,b,c,d Listening/Speaking: 3.4

Project DUE: November 2nd

Oral Presentation: Student# 1-10 on November 2nd

You will need to select one biome to research. You may select from the following biomes: grassland, arctic tundra, tropical rain forest, temperate rain forest, deciduous forest, desert, freshwater, or marine biome. * Only 6 students/biome. First come, first served, so get your signed slip in right away.

Reading: You may use your Science textbook, other reference books, encyclopedias, magazine articles, and/or the internet to read about and research your biome.

Writing: You will need to write an informal outline about your biome. You must include information for each of the three sections.

1. Biome characteristics including location, climate, and soil

2. 2 plants found in the biome including their adaptations

3. 2 animals found in the biome including their adaptations

Visual: You will design a shoe box biome which demonstrates what you have learned. Your visual should give your audience information from each of the three sections from your informal outline. The visual will assist you in your presentation as it will remind you of all the information you will need to share with the audience. You will not have notes or any written work with you, so the visual needs to be complete in order to be of assistance to you. *Please note: No other visuals will be accepted for this oral project. Be creative and neat!

Oral Presentation: All project requirements (informal outline and visual) need to be complete and ready on November 2nd; however, presentation dates are by student number noted above. Students may NOT use note cards or their informal outline for the presentation.

I have read the requirements for the Shoebox Biome Oral Language Project with my child. She/he and I are aware of all the project requirements and due dates. We understand late projects will receive a reduced grade.

I would like to request ________________________________________ biome. *This is a biome request. DO NOT begin research until you receive my approval for your biome.
