What’s Happening

As part of our commitment we are working with tier one memory vendors to transition DDR3 memory supply from standard voltage (SV) 1.5V DIMMs to DIMMs supporting lower voltage (LV) 1.35V. This new technology is referred to as DDR3L.

Customer Impact

Transition

Dell recognizes that transitions of this nature could potentially affect customer operations and so we have established an extended transition period minimize any disruption. We have planned the transition so that, for approximately 60 days, any system specifically ordered with standard voltage DIMMs will be built with the memory specified. The exact timeframe will depend on how actual orders. Once the transition period is over, systems ordered with standard voltage DIMMs may receive DDR3L DIMMs depending on SV supply availability.
