POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Development & Event Planning Assistant

Department: Schools Office

Reports To: The Superintendent of Schools

Classification: Exempt

General Description:

The Development & Event Planning Assistant is responsible for development, grant writing, event planning, government programs, and special projects as designated by the Secretary of Education.

Specific Duties/ Responsibilities:

The following specific responsibilities are representative of duties required in this position. They may be unilaterally but reasonably changed based on the working environment and departmental needs.

DEVELOPMENT & GRANT WRITING

· Investigate, find, write foundation grants

· Monitor, follow-up with grants initiated by the Director of School Services

· Collaborate with Schools Office colleagues to remain cognizant of grant opportunities in the instructional & technology areas

· Search through federal registers, and Foundation Search software to locate and federal funding available for non-public schools

· Capitalize on finding grants for student’s scholarships

C.A.P. (Catholic Alumni Partnership)

· Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communication, compose donor advocacy, solicitation, and follow-up letters/communication

· Manage and update donor database

· Interface with individual schools regarding their alumni donors

EVENT PLANNING

· Under the supervision of the Director of Catholic Urban Schools Partnership, assist with event planning and board management functions.

SEVIS (Gov’t Program for International Students)

· Under the supervision of the Director of School Services, address requests from the schools for updated documentation and information adjustments for international students.

· Provide follow-up and assistance to the schools as needed

Other duties:

· Travel to schools as needed to assist with various duties as needed

· Responsible for the timely and complete implementation of special projects and events as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/ Skills

· 5+ years’ experience in grant writing & development

· Experience with Raiser's Edge, ETapestry or similar product

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word and Excel

· Working knowledge of Social Media a plus (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter)

· Event planning and board management experience

· A self-starter, one who initiates projects and programs

· An individual with strong verbal and communication skills

· A versatile individual who can multi-task and work well independently

· A patient individual who can assist multiple schools, who each have different concerns.

· An analytic person who understands statistics and can interpret the data to assist the Catholic Schools Office plan for the future

· Someone collaborative who seeks to connect with both the schools Office, Scholarships and Grants, and other associated departments.

· A valid NJ driver’s license and clean driving record

Education and/ or Experience

· Bachelors/ Masters in an administrative or non-profit concentration; experience in a school environment (preferably Catholic) desired.
