News Up-date

27th May 2009

Dear Parents,

This week we welcome Mrs. Tedesco back to school and I know her class is as delighted as we are to have her back with us again.

Hopefully, the vast majority of Saint Paul families are reading this ‘Update’ on our school website. Please let the school know through a note to your child’s class teacher if you are having any difficulties accessing the ‘Newsletter’ and ‘Update’ on line. To access our School Website address please enter tholic.edu.au or www.ceo.parra.catholic.edu.au/stpaultheapostle Both addresses will take you to the website.

If your family does not have access to a computer, please send a slip to the school office requesting a printed version each week. The slip to fill out is included again in this week’s Up-date.

Many thanks to the parents and children who were able to help out at last Saturday’s working bee. The wet weather meant that we were able to get a number of ‘indoor jobs’ such as washing the children’s tables and sorting the lost property completed. Once again, thank you to our working bee co ordinator, Mr Mal Green, for organizing this event.

LOST PROPERTY:

At the working bee, a number of parents went through our ‘overflowing’ Lost Property baskets. Items that were named have already been put into classroom tubs to be returned to their owners, however a great number of items were unmarked or were tagged with the name of a student who has long since left the school (obviously purchased through the second hand section of our Clothing Shop). There were also a significant number of plastic lunch boxes and drink bottles, generally without names. It is very concerning to see such a waste. Once again, parents are reminded of the importance of regularly checking their children’s clothes, lunch boxes and drink bottles, especially removable items such as hats and jackets to ensure that the label contains both their child’s Christian and surname and is also written clearly enough to be easily read. It is also advisable to check that your child has not inadvertently taken home an item of clothing with another child’s name on it. This is very frustrating for parents who have gone to the trouble of marking their child’s belongings only to find that another child has taken them home, leaving only unmarked items. In these difficult financial times a little bit of extra time and vigilance should prove to be a money saver!

God bless you and your families, Chris Gibson Principal
