Fees
The new fee daily rates take effect this month. Adjustments have been made to the invoices of all those affected by the nursery closure on Friday 10th March.
Sun Cream
Now the weather is getting warmer please could you start applying sun cream to your child before bringing them to nursery (please check the weather forecast in advance so your child is suitably protected). A high SPF and a ‘once a day’ sun cream should suffice for children aged over three years old providing they have a sun hat. We have several shaded areas and the children will not be playing outside during the hottest times.
We are happy to accommodate applying sun cream during the day for babies, toddlers and children under three as the ratio makes this much more manageable. Please supply labelled sun cream in their bags for us to reapply after lunch but you must still apply this before they arrive in the morning. You will be asked to apply sun cream to your child before leaving the nursery in the morning if you have forgotten to apply it at home and the weather is set to be hot for the day.
We had this policy last year, it worked well and all children enjoyed the weather safely. We will of course ensure all children are well hydrated and the older children do receive the occasional ice pop when the weather is particularly warm J.
Red Nose Day 2017
Thank you to everyone who supported our Red Nose Day events, we have included all donations and can now confirm we raised £270.45 in total!
School Leavers
We wish you the best of luck with your child’s school place if they are leaving us this year. Toni will shortly be distributing letters to find out what date your child will be leaving Newlands, we are unable to offer nursery care after Thursday 31st August (school leavers only!) to enable the younger children to move up and to avoid invoicing parents for just one day on Friday 01st September. You are welcome to leave earlier than this date; we just require the usual one months notice. Please also note that there is no government free entitlement for the whole of August so full fees will remain payable.
Prams free to good home
We have three quad prams free to a good home. As the name suggests, they can take four children under three years old in each. If you know anyone who could make use of these or a charity willing to take them off our hands please let us know. We have reverted back to using double pushchairs and would like the room under the pram store for parents own pushchairs.

Parents Evening
Thursday 01st June 6.30-8pm. All parents welcome but no children to attend with you please. This is a good opportunity to speak to your child’s key person about their learning and development at nursery (particularly important if your child is leaving us for school this summer). Refreshments will be provided.
Annual Easter Bonnet Competition - All children
All entries to be in nursery by 6pm on Wednesday 12th April as David will be choosing the winners on Thursday 13th April. All children welcome to take part. We have some great bonnets in already!
Annual Sunflower Competition – Daisy and Sunflower children only
Children in the Daisy and Sunflower rooms will be planting their Sunflower seed WC Monday 24th April, if you would like to take part, please grow this at home and provide the measurement and photograph by 6pm on Thursday 06 July so we can see who has won!
Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers
Please keep collecting the vouchers and spread the word to family and friends! We will be collecting for a month or so yet.
Clothing
Please ensure you have labelled your child’s clothing (including sun hats). If you are writing their name in biro please keep checking it is still visible after washing.
