Department of Missouri Pistol and Rifle Postal Match 2015

The Department of Missouri will be conducting the National Marine Corps League Rifle and Pistol Postal Match at 10 a.m. on Saturday August 29, 2015, at the United Sportsmen's Club located at 4750 Henwick Lane in Jefferson City Missouri. This Match is open to all Missouri Marine Corps League Detachment members.

The Department of Missouri will be using the rules of the National Marine Corps League National Service Pistol and Rifle Postal Match with the following exceptions:

·  Shooters wishing to compete ONLY in the Missouri Match may utilize any type of rifle with iron sights and any type pistol with iron sights to compete in the Missouri Only Match.

·  The National Pistol Match will have a Service Pistol and an OPEN Pistol category, see info below.

·  Shooters wishing their scores to be sent in the National Service Pistol and Rifle Postal Match must follow all service rifle and pistol equipment rules of National. http://www.mcleague.com/mdp/pdf/RifleAndPistol_Rules_2014_2015.pdf

Match fees will be:

$5 per shooter for Missouri Only Pistol Match

$5 per shooter for Missouri Only Rifle Match

$15 per for MCL National Service Rifle and Pistol Match. (Your scores will count towards Missouri Match also)

General Match Information

·  The range length for the rifle match must be shot at 100 or 200 yards. Because of range limitations The Department of Missouri has decided to shoot the rifle match at 100 yards using the NRA SR-1 target.

·  The range length for the pistol match must be 25 Yards with Standard NRA B-8 target

Rifle Service Match

·  The following rifles or their civilian models are acceptable. Springfield Model 1903/1903A3, M1 Garand, M14, and M16 have to be shot for the National Postal Match. However, if you do not want to compete in the National Postal Match and just want to shoot the Department of Missouri Rifle Match you may use any type rifle with iron sights only.

·  Course of Fire

o 3 Sighters, 3 Minutes, Any Position

o 10 Rounds, 10 Minutes, Slow Fire Prone

o 10 Rounds, 10 Minutes, Slow Fire Sitting

o 10 Rounds, 10 Minutes, Slow Fire Kneeling

o 10 Rounds, 10 Minutes, Slow Fire Standing

·  Target: NRA SR-1 target fired at 100 yards

·  If competitor cannot assume a specific position they may elect to fire in the next progressive position.

·  Disabled competitors enter in disabled class and may fire any safe position they can assume or seated in a chair.

·  No external modifications are allowed to the stock and barrel.

·  Military iron sights only, but dimensions may vary of rear sight aperture & front sight blade. Scopes attached to the rifle are not permitted.

·  In Rifle Slow Fire rounds will be loaded one at a time only.

·  Slings can be used for support in all positions except standing. While in the standing position the sling must be in the parade position and attached at both ends of the rifle.

Pistol Service Match

·  The following type military pistols or their civilian models are acceptable: Government Model 1911 .45 ACP (Gold Cup and Officer’s models); Beretta M9, .38 caliber six-shot revolvers have to be shot for the National Postal Match. (However, if you do not want to compete in the National Postal Match and just want to shoot the Department of Missouri Pistol Match you may use any type pistol with iron sights only).

·  Any type of internal modification is acceptable except for trigger pull which must meet or exceed the minimum four (4) pound trigger pull as designated by the U.S. Armed Forces.

·  Only standard metallic sights can be used and no other sighting or aiming device such as lasers, red dots, etc. can be attached to the pistol in any manor.

·  Standard grips must not exceed one and a half (1 1/2) inches and cannot have finger groves or other non standard military design.

·  Course of Fire:

o Two stages with each stage containing one string of slow fire, two strings of timed fire and two strings

of rapid fire.

o 10 Rounds, 10 minutes Slow Fire

o Two (2) five-round strings, 20 Seconds, Timed Fire

o Two (2) five-round strings, 10 Seconds, Rapid Fire

o There will be a pause between the Timed and Rapid Fire strings for reloading.

·  Alibis:

o Alibis apply only to the timed and rapid fire strings.

o A competitor can claim only one alibi in both strings of fire for a stage

o A competitor can only fire one alibi string consisting of the string with the fewest shots down range at

the time of the alibi.

·  Target: Standard NRA B-8 25 yard pistol target

Pistol Open Match (new for National MCL Postal Match)

·  The Open Pistol Match is designed to give shooters access to the Postal Match who do not own or have access to military type pistols required for the Service Pistol Match.

·  Open Match pistols may be revolver or semi-automatic type handgun larger than .22 caliber and smaller than .50 caliber.

·  Only standard metallic sights can be used and no other sighting or aiming device such as lasers, red dots, etc. can be attached to the pistol in any manner.

·  The Open Pistol Match is an identical course of fire and scoring to the service pistol course listed above.

Trophies

·  MISSOURI ONLY: 1st Rifle Team and 1st Rifle Individual. 1st Pistol Team and 1st Pistol Individual will be recognized with awards. The Award presentation will be at the next Department of Missouri Convention after the match.

·  The National MCL Postal Match Trophies will be awarded for first place High Master, Master, Expert, Sharpshooter, and Marksman for Individuals and Teams.

·  For the National MCL Postal there will be 2nd and 3rd place trophies awarded depending on the amount of entry fees received and the number of competitors per classification.
