Moving Allowance Policy

Workers moving into the Conference have a choice in the way in which they come into the Conference:

1. Obtain three (3) quotes from authorized Conference movers. You and the treasury department select the mover that offers the best value for the move. The Conference would pay the cost of the move directly to the moving company once Treasury accepts the quotation for the move.

2. Those who move their household goods by a rented or borrowed truck, trailer or car should always secure the necessary amount of cargo insurance. The conference carries no automatic insurance on such risks. On authorized moves, the cost of the truck and equipment rental, cargo insurance, and necessary adult labor for loading and unloading the truck will be considered a reimbursable moving expense. In addition, the conference will grant an additional $500 moving allowance to single employees and $1,000 for families, recognizing that a self-move is significantly less expensive than a moving van.

There is a flat moving allowance paid, which is 16.7% Basic Wage factor for single workers (approximately $715) and 33.3% Basic Wage factor for workers (approximately $1,430) with families. These funds are to cover expenses relating to the move like buying new curtains, buying boxes, etc. Workers receive this regardless of the method chosen for the move.

Mileage is also reimbursable for up to 2 cars, provided more than 500 miles per day is driven, plus per diem at the single or family rates as appropriate. Generally, actual expenses such as tolls, hotel bills, etc. are also reimbursable. Meals are covered by the per diem allowance. We also assist with registering your vehicles in the new state and obtaining drivers licenses, etc.
