Machine vs Nature

Two Still Lifes: Machine and man-made tools next to Organic objects and natural representations. One is hard edged, with pieces of steel, gears, wire, tools. One is flowing forms with bones, a maquette (French for scale model) of a foot or eye, feathers, shells, and branches. Each still life creates an emotional response and an artistic response.
One still life is drawn in graphite, one in charcoal. Precise rendering of each still life shows the existing complexity in value, line, form and space. Your insertion of an image or images that do not physically exist in each still life creates deeper meaning and perhaps paradox (a situation exhibiting an apparently contradictory nature, Dictionary.com)
In your Artist’s Statement, you will explain what each still life offers to the viewer. How will your viewer respond to your work? What questions does your work invoke? Explain what, how, why to the viewer. What are you stating in this piece? How did you create this piece. Why did you create the image you have created and if so, how your two still life drawings relate to one another?
