Motorcycle Rider Course

· Mandatory on-line 3 hour prep course is required with proof of Certificate of Completion brought to class.

· Certified MSF Instructors

· 15 Hours of Instruction

MSF Basic e-Course will address basic motorcycle knowledge, 5 hours of classroom instruction with a RiderCoach to address rider perception and risk management, and 10 hours of on-cycle, hands-on instruction. Riders must be able to balance a bicycle to participate in the riding portion of the course, and a riding skill test must be passed for successful completion.

In this course, you will practice and develop the four fundamental riding skills:

· Straight-line riding

· Turning

· Shifting

· Stopping

You will expand these basic skills into street-riding skills:

· Advanced turning techniques

· Maximum-braking techniques

· Swerving

You will learn and practice the mental skills to develop:

· Street-riding strategies

· The ability to deal with special situations

The Motorcycle Rider Course is required by Iowa law to obtain a motorcycle endorsement on your driver’s license for all residents under age 18.

Beginning and intermediate riders can gain knowledge from this 15-hour course.

Students must be at least 14 years old and hold a DOT permit or license (Motorcycle Permit not required).

Students must bring:

· Full finger gloves

· Long sleeve shirt

· Long pants to the ankle

· Over-the-ankle boots or shoes

· Eye protection (glasses or goggles)

· Helmet – provided by College (you can use your own helmet if approved by the instructor).

During inclement weather, rain gear and jacket are suggested.

You will not be allowed to participate in range training without required riding gear.

Preregistration and prepayment are required for these classes. Tuition is $165.00.
