Job Title: Graduate Student Assistant (Paid)

Reports to: The Coordinator for the Center for Leadership Development and Campus Connections

Statement of Purpose:

The Center for Leadership Development and Campus Connections serves as an office to connect students through involvement and leadership opportunities. The Graduate Student Assistant will work closely with the Coordinator to manage programming, supervise undergraduate student staff, and carry out daily responsibilities. Through the position, the student will not only gain the opportunity to support and propel students, but also to obtain valuable work experience within leadership development and student affairs.

The Graduate Student Assistant will be expected to fill the position from July 2014 – May 2015 for 20 hours per week.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist the Coordinator with the supervision and management of the Student Leadership Team

· Assist in the management of the new Leadership Development Certificate Program and The Connection and Engagement Program

· Conduct assessments on post program evaluations and provide recommendations based on the data findings

· Assist in the planning and facilitation of the training for the Student Leadership Team, the SGA, and Student Leader Campus Cross Training (Summer & January)

· Manage the leadership website and all social media outlets

· Assist with the implementation and training for OrgSync (student software interface)

· Assist in the planning and implementation of the Leadership Institute (Spring)

· Design surveys to collect data on students interests for programming and a needs assessment for student organizations

· Create high quality marketing materials through programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

· Design and facilitate workshops and programs around leadership development

· Conduct research in leadership development as needed

· Identify and apply to grants related to leadership development, programming, and student development

· Provide support and advisement for daily walk in students

· Serve on the rotation for CSI and organization events

· Meet regularly with Coordinator and give weekly updates

· Complete the pre and post self-evaluation competency assessment

· Complete any special projects as requested by Coordinator of Student Leadership Programs

Qualifications

· Minimum 3.0 GPA

· Previous experience with leadership development and in working with college students

· Some flexibility with weekend and night hours

· Must have 20 available hours per week Monday – Friday (4-5 available days a week is preferred)

· Ability to effectively communicate with professional staff and students

· Knowledge for Excel and Word

· Knowledge of OrgSync strongly preferred (not required)

· Preferred knowledge for Adobe Photoshop, SPSS and Adobe Illustrator (not required)

· $12 per hour for 20 hours per week ($9200 for full term)
