MINUTES OF CSU STAFF COUNCIL MEETING

Thursday, April 3, 2008

I. ATTENDANCE

Members Present: Lacey Allmond, Stephanie Coker, Brynn Dillon, Birgit Gatlin, Jessie Hudson, Rebecca Hunter, Angela Johnson, Crystal Jones, Laurie Jones, Simone Jones, Jay Knape, Stephanie Press, Emmanuel Sarris , Libby Smith, Rita Snell, Eddie Woodhouse

Excused Absences: Michell Madison, Christine Murphy, Mack Ragan, Tara Romito

II. CALL TO ORDER

Brynn Dillon called the meeting to order at 10:05 AM. The March 06, 2008 minutes were accepted as submitted.

III. FINANCIAL REPORT


Foundation fund: as of 02/29/08 $893.84

Book Scholarship: as of 03/31/08 $1,371.96


IV. COMMITTEE REPORTS

A. WELCOME COMMITTEE

Stephanie Coker reported that the new employee welcome went well. Libby Smith volunteered to serve on the committee.

B. STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

Eddie Woodhouse announced application deadline for fall applications is July 31st, 2008.

C. ELECTIONS COMMITTEE

No report.



D. DEPARTMENT APPRECIATION COMMITTEE

Brynn Dillon advised members that we will have popcorn and cokes for our May staff appreciation event.

E. FUND RAISING COMMITTEE

Lacey Allmond reported that she has 39 vendors including 6 student organizations. She reported a profit of $1227. She informed the group that the event was moved to the Lumpkin Center due to bad weather. Set-up will be Friday at 3 pm.

F. STAFF SERVICE AWARD COMMITTEE

Laurie Jones reported that they are still in the process of selecting the recipient for the employee of the year 2007.

V. OLD BUSINESS

A. Recycling / Sidewalks / Speed bumps

Eddie Woodhouse reported that on campus paper is being recycled unless there is regular garbage in the recycling containers (paid for by CSU). Some student organizations pick up aluminum can containers and glass containers (as fundraisers). Eddie reported also that sidewalks are being installed across campus. He informed the group that speed bumps can only be installed if CSU owns the road.

B. Baby Changing Tables

Eddie Woodhouse informed staff council members that there is no funding available currently for baby changing tables.

VI. NEW BUSINESS

A. Environmental Report

Emmanuelle Sarris informed the group that several offices have bought their own red and white recycling containers. Student organizations have been picking up these containers for fundraisers. Nicole Devries is the contact person for pick-up at 507-8835.

B. Craft Fair

Lacey Allmond informed staff council that the craft fair has been moved to the Lumpkin Center because of the expected rain on Saturday.

C. Gift for Dr. Brown

A retirement gift for Dr. Brown was discussed. Brynn asked members to email her gift suggestions. We need to make a decision at the next staff council meeting.

D. 50th Anniversary Convocation

Brynn Dillon asked members if staff wants to be involved in the processional of the convocation. This idea was discussed and members decided that staff acknowledgement would suffice. The convocation will be held in September downtown.

D. Name Tags

Brynn asked council members who don’t have a name tag to email her. Members who lost their name tag can obtain another one but have to pay for the replacement.

E. Naming of Staff Council Scholarship

Brynn handed out an email from Nancy Marino suggesting to rename the CSU Staff Council Scholarship in honor of Dr. Frank Brown. All members voted and were in favor of this idea.

F. Attendance Policy

Brynn advised the group that we do not currently have an attendance policy. It was suggested to create a policy as follows: member can miss 3 consecutive meetings and a total of 6 meetings per year. Brynn will write a policy draft for members to vote on during next meeting.

VII. ANNOUNCEMENTS

Homecoming shirts are available from Residence Life (Todd).

Rebecca Hunter announced that 561 students and guests were at the recent visitation day.

Simone Jones volunteered to maintain staff council website.

VIII. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:50 AM.
