5 89 . Apologies for Absence and Acceptance by Committee

5 92 . Quote for repair of Basketball Posts
Resolved - Quote accepted.
5 93 . Volunteer to cover for Greedon Rise Gatekeeper whilst on holiday
Resolved - Cllr P Collingswood volunteered to cover relevant dates.
5 94 . Signage for Scarecr ow Competition
A quotation had been obtained for roadside signs for the Scarecrow Competition, it was felt that it was too expensive and that the materials
quoted for would not be suitable.
Action - Clerk to look into alternative, smaller signage, and check legalities with Leicestershire Highways.
595. Suggestions for someone to present prizes for Scarecrow Evening
Resolved - It was agreed that the Chairman of the Parish Council would present the prizes for the Scarecrow evening.
596. Location of the ‘Map of Sileby’ on the P avilion
It was agreed that the Map of Sileby will be sited under the CCTV camera
on the Pavilion, on the wall facing the War Memorial.
Resolved – Clerk to arrange siting of Map.
5 97 . Update on the Pinfold Sign
It was reported that neither Charnwood Borough Council or Leicestershire
Highways had no knowledge of the Pinfold Sign, and was not a sign they
had approved. They also did not remove the sign.
Cllr A Shepherdson proposed that we should go ahead with purchasing a sign, as we maintain the area; this was seconded by Cllr A Paling. Cllr R
Brown is to contact Kevin Biddulph at CBC to look into the possibility of
A ‘finger’ sign.
Action – Clerk to put on next Parks Agenda for an update.
5 98 . Letter from resident on Seagrave Road re Subsidence Claim
This was read out to the Council, and it was agreed that access would be
permitted for work to be carried out. It was also agreed that the Laurel
bush and relevant foliage, as per recommendations, would be removed.
Action – Clerk to ask Contractor to remove relevant bush / foliage.
5 99 . Invitation to enter the RCC Village Achievements Awards 2011
Cllr King had looked at the criteria for these awards, and suggested that
Sileby should enter the Community Award and Community Hall Award.
Action – Clerk to apply for relevant awards.
600. Phase III
Update on options to keep cars off the grass –
2 quotations were presented to the Council, but it was agreed that the preferred option would be large boulders.
Action – Clerk to contact Lafarge to obtain prices, and put on next
Month’s Parks Agenda.
Update on quotes for the path from STFC pitch to the Pavilion –
It was reported that Barrow FC use Astroturf for pathways. The quotation
from the Contractor to level and re-turf the strip of land from the Pavilion
to STFC pitch was accepted. This work to be carried out at the end of the
football season.
Action – Clerk to obtain prices for Astroturf.
Quote for turning of the Football Pitches –
Resolved - This quotation was accepted.
Quote for relaying slabs at the War Memorial –
Three quotations were presented to council. It was agreed that due to the
cost, these would need to be requoted to exact specifications. Cllr A
Shepherdson offered to draw out a basic plan for tenders.
Action – Clerk to email Cllr Shepherdson basic plan of War Memorial.
Approval to invest in some new shrubs –
It was agreed that this would be part of Phase III.
601 . Risk Assessment
Cllr W King reported that he would be carrying out a risk assessment
within the next few days.
602 . Future Planning
Dog Fouling -
Cllr W King suggested we employ a dog warden on a temporary basis, to
try to alleviate the problem of dog fouling on the park. Cllr Shepherdson
said it would be a waste of money, and that Braunstone Town Council had
sprayed stencils of signs on the footpaths regarding dog fouling.
Action – Clerk to contact Braunstone Town Council for further
information, and to check the legalities with Leicestershire Highways.
Update on sponsorship of flower beds in Memorial area, and mini-
roundabout –
It was reported Sportsground Maintenance are happy to sponsor.
603 . Clerk’s Report
It was reported that the tiles in the kitchen area of the Pavilion are falling
off, and will all come off eventually as they were not sealed when first
done. Tony Masic is arranging for the contractor to visit the Pavilion,
inspect and replace as necessary.
Cllr B Crick reported that she had received a letter from Tony Masic
requesting the retention monies due, and that the letter was addressed
to the Chairman, and not the Clerk.
Action – Clerk to write to Tony Masic asking all future correspondence
to be addressed to The Clerk.
