Position Purpose: / Working in collaboration with the Aged Care General Manager the Operations Manager is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the operational business requirements for all aged care facilities and for providing operational and clinical leadership and support at the local level.
Working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders the position is also responsible for monitoring and achievement of KPI’s.
Qualifications & Requirements: / ESSENTIAL:
·  A demonstrated record of achievement in a senior management role, preferably in an aged care or related setting.
·  Post graduate qualifications in health care or management
·  Demonstrated ability to be self motivated and work with limited direction
·  Well developed working knowledge of contemporary aged care including but not limited to;
-  Aged Care funding systems (ACFI)
-  Aged Care Act 1997 and amendments
-  Aged Care Accreditation Standards
DESIRABLE:
·  A current Division 1 Nurses registration.
·  A record of achievement in aged care accreditation.
·  Membership in Industry Reference Groups, Committees and Associations.

Leadership and Support

Ensures the service complies with legislation and other regulations through managing risk assessments in both clinical and non clinical areas. / ·  Maintains practice within framework established by legislation, national and state policy, guidelines and principles and policies, procedures and protocols of Mercy Health.

Strategic Direction
Contributes to long term planning processes for service and plans for community need. / ·  Evidence of having made a positive contribution to the strategic and business plan of Aged Care Victoria. / ·  Assists in the strategic planning process and annual business plan preparation.
·  In conjunction with other Leadership team members, ensures the aged care direction is aligned with Mercy Health’s priorities.
·  Provides strategic and operational direction across Aged Care services.
Workforce Development and Human Resource Management Supports sites with staff development issues and Human Resources issues in a proactive manner. / ·  Supports managers in the recruitment, selection and retention and performance management of staff. / ·  Ensures the Mercy Health recruitment and selection process is adhered to on all occasions and those recruitment processes are transparent.
·  Actively promote multi-disciplinary teamwork to achieve desired outcomes.
·  Ensures all staff members across the organisation participate annually in Mercy Health appraisal process for staff development.
·  Ensures staff performance issues are addressed in a timely manner.
·  Effectively manages relationships with relevant industrial organisations.
·  Ensures all Mercy Health policies and procedures relation to Human Resources are followed.
