Memorize a poem and recite it.
Memorize one Spanish poem (to be obtained from Mrs. Litton, all of which pertain to weather unit) and be able to recite it aloud to the class in Spanish. You should understand and be ready to explain what it means in English. Dramatic presentations and interpretations are appreciated.
200 point project / Recite entire long poem in Spanish with no errors. No prompts necessary. Pronunciation is perfect. Extensive practice and preparation is evident. / Demonstrates understanding of poem by answering questions about content (What is the poem about?), and vocabulary (What do words/lines mean?) Student answers all questions thoroughly and correctly. / Student interprets poem creatively during presentation, using physical gestures, and voice modification/inflection. / Project is completed and presented on time.
150 point project / Recite entire long poem in Spanish with few errors. One or two prompts may be necessary. Pronunciation is close to perfect. / Demonstrates understanding of poem by answering questions about content (What is the poem about?), and vocabulary (What do words/lines mean?) Student answers most questions thoroughly and correctly. / Student interprets poem during presentation, using physical gestures, and/or voice modification/inflection. / Project is completed and presented on time.
100 point project / Recite entire medium length poem in Spanish. 5-10 errors only. Prompts may be necessary. Pronunciation is good. / Demonstrates understanding of poem by answering questions about content (What is the poem about?), and vocabulary (What do words/lines mean?) Student answers some questions thoroughly and correctly. / Student attempts to interpret poem during presentation, using some physical gestures, and/or voice modification/inflection. / Project is completed and presented on time.
50 point project / Recite entire short to medium length poem in Spanish. 5-10 errors only. Prompts may be necessary. Pronunciation is good. / Demonstrates understanding of poem by answering questions about content (What is the poem about?), and vocabulary (What do words/lines mean?) Student answers some questions thoroughly and correctly. / Student attempts to interpret poem during presentation, using some physical gestures, and/or voice modification/inflection. / Project is completed and presented on time.
