The meeting was chaired by President Jim McMillan who welcomed members and guests John Heslop and Brian Yelham and then called on Sergeant at Arms Merv Cross to open the meeting.

President Jim:

· Reminded members of the Health Seminar next week.

· Announced that the Board will now meet on 23 September.

· A short meeting of the Board is required after this meeting.

Secretary Geoff Roberts: Correspondence received …

· News on prostate cancer research is available.

· Rotary Club of Collingwood re Christmas cakes

· Information is available on Hawkesbury Dance Festival

· District directories … copies are available for members.

· Bowel Scan: 44,000 kits were sold last year within District 9690. Help is needed in distributing kits to Hawkesbury pharmacies and later picking them up.

· Attendance and Meals: It is important that members apologise on time (Ross Miller 4577 2576 ) for non-attendance as once the expected number of members attending is reported to Andy the club is required to pay for that number of meals. Members should also ring Ross Miller if they are proposing to bring a guest.

Treasurer Chris Veitch:

Chris informed the meeting that the club is in a healthy financial state and that only one member’s dues are due.

Community Service Director Mal Roughley:

Functions on 12 September and 26 & 27 September requiring fairy floss and slushy are being attended by Darrell Brown, Trevor Whitmore, Ed Palminha and Chris Veitch.

International Director Dudley Mercer:

· Outgoing District 9690 GSE team has been selected.

· Youth Exchange Program – now has a new district executive and so changes can be expected.

· Outward bound PACE students – candidates are being sought. An inward group is expected from Samoa or Tonga.

Community Service Director Jim Clifford:

The scrap metal bin will be emptied next week so if members have any scrap metal, please deliver soon.

Youth Director Jim Faber:

· RYPEN: Two applicants have been chosen. We can have two representatives at the Saturday night dinner if anyone is available.

Vocational Director Brian Speechley:

· The speaker for 23 September, Angus Dawson, is now not available on that date.

· The Mental Health Forum will be held, at the Function Centre, on Wednesday 16 September. 6.30 for 7.00pm. This year there has been a greater response form associated mental health groups. Ample speakers are available. Food will not be available at the function. Members are asked to be identified as Windsor Rotarians by wearing their club polo shirts.

· Keep in mind the 2009 Rotary Youth Trust Awards night that will be held on Wed 7 October.

PP Rod Hartas:

· 15 couples have indicated that they will be participating in the visit to Queanbeyan. We will be having a meal with the Queanbeyan Rotary Club on the Friday night.

· Two tables have been booked for the Richmond Players dinner and show on Saturday 5 December.

John Heslop - on the 9690 District Conference in 2010:

· The conference will be held in Foster at Club Foster.

· Dates are 19-21 March 2010.

· The theme is ‘Rotary – The Greatest Show on Earth’.

· An excellent program of keynote speakers has been prepared.

· Registration is $280, $260 if paid by 30 November.

· John then presented Chris Veitch with a certificate and badge for being a Centurion Member of the Rotary Foundation.

Harry Goodyear – on ‘A Cat named Nelson’:

· Harry spoke from first experience of World War 11.

· Of particular interest was what Britons had to face in daily like during the war – the food coupons, 2 oz of tea per person per week, the blackouts, the need to collect as much scrap metal as possible for the war effort,.

· Harry was at Copenhagen for the surrender of the German Fleet.

Raffle: Trevor Whitmore won the wine but not the money. Sergeant-at-Arms Merv Cross made the sinners pay.

President Jim reminded members of the Mental Health Forum next week and thanked guests for attending before handing over to Sergeant-at-Arms Merv Cross to close the meeting.
