JEFFERSON SCHOLARSHIP TO THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA

The Jefferson Scholars Foundation seeks to find high school seniors who possess exceptional ability in leadership and scholarship who show promise of making significant contributions to the University community as students and to society as graduates. Successful candidates for the Jefferson Scholarship have demonstrated uncommon academic abilities, exceptional leadership talents and an understanding of the broader community around them. Nominees are typically within the top 5-10 percent of their class, have taken the most challenging course load and possess an intellectual curiosity and vigor for learning. The Jefferson Scholars Foundation does require as a condition of nomination that each nominee agree not to make application to a college or university under a binding early decision plan, however any senior who wishes to apply to a college or university under a non-binding plan would be eligible to compete for and win a Jefferson Scholarship. Applying to the University of Virginia is highly encouraged, but not required of nominees.
