The City of Treasure Island is a 3.5 mile barrier island, located on the Gulf of Mexico. We serve a population of 6,800 permanent residents with up to 20,000 seasonal residents. The Police Department is a progressive, modern organization comprised of 19 sworn officers that in conjunction with its road patrol provides the following specialized services: Marine Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division, bicycle and U-T-V patrols. Our civilian support staff provides on-site police records and property/evidence management. Patrol operations utilize a squad system that provides most officers with a four day on - three day off duty schedule.

Requirements:


Applicants must be at least 21 years old, a United States citizen and be currently certified as a Law Enforcement Officer in the state of Florida. Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of full-time law enforcement experience as a Marine Patrol Officer in Florida and must have successfully completed a 40-hour Basic Marine Enforcement Operations course. Applicants must pass a series of interviews, polygraph and psychological evaluation. Additionally, applicants must pass a thorough medical evaluation (including drug screen) and a comprehensive background investigation.

A City's law enforcement officer application is required. Applicant Note: The portion of page eight on the application which asks for the applicant’s motivation to be a police officer must be completed in their own handwriting using blue ink. Additional sheets may be added for this question or any other questions requiring further explanation. Questions on this application that are answered with “see resume” or “refer to the attached” may be cause for the application to be rejected. The application is to be notarized from the state where it was completed prior to submission.

Duties:

The successful applicant will be assigned to the Marine Patrol Division after successful completion of the Department’s 16 week Field Training Program. The successful applicant will also be required to work as a patrol officer to accommodate scheduling needs.
