Topics and Key Note Speakers
Facebook, ‘Building for the Future’
Niall McEntegart, Facebook, Head of Data Centre Operations in Europe and Eastern US.
·  Facebook's data centre in Luleå, is setting new standards for how data centres are designed, built, and operated. It is also among the worlds most open, as the designs for the building, the electrical and cooling systems, and the servers have all been open-sourced as part of Facebook's participation in the Open Compute Project (www.opencompute.org). In this talk, you'll learn more about the technology that powers Facebook data centres, emerging technical solutions in development by Facebook's engineers, and the way the Facebook team manages these massive facilities.
UpTime Institute, ‘Start with the End in Mind initiative’
Alfonso Aranda Arias, Consultant at UpTime Institute, London
o In new data centres operations holds the key to efficiency (including availability). Operations are the ultimate client in any data centre expansion, and as such should be integral to the project from conception. By focusing on the way the data centre will be run from the earliest planning stage, owners increase the efficiency, uptime and ROI of their facilities while reducing cost and risk.
Digital Realty, ‘Building an Open Internet Exchange to Service Global Data Centre Connectivity’
Rob Bath, Digital Realty, Vice President of Engineering, EMEA
o Rob has been heavily involved in the strategic and evolutionary design, build and expansion planning of major UK and European sites for a number of data centre owners and operators. His principal focus is on engineering data centre solutions for clients within the Digital European property portfolio. This responsibility spans property acquisition, design and construction, technology deployment and sales.
Panel discussion, refreshments and networking
o The panel discussion will be followed by refreshments where you have the opportunity to discuss with data centre peers, and to learn yet more of the ‘Data Centre (R)Evolution’.
