Major Alexander Ford

MAJ Alexander Ford is a 2003 graduate of Duke University and holds a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy. He earned a Master of Science in Defense Analysis with a focus in Irregular Warfare from The Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

MAJ Ford’s initial duty as a commissioned officer was as a Rifle Platoon Leader, in the 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He also served as a Heavy Weapons Platoon Leader and then Heavy Weapons Company Executive Officer. Upon completion of his assignment in Fort Bragg, he attended the Special Forces Assessment and Selection and entered the Special Forces’ Qualification Course shortly after his successful completion of Selection. As a Special Forces officer MAJ Ford was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3st Special Forces Group in Fort Bragg, where he served as a Company Executive Officer and a Detachment Commander. Upon completion of tour in Fort Bragg, MAJ Ford was selected to attend the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned his M.S. in Monterey, California. Currently MAJ Ford is serving as the course director of the Special Operations – Low Intensity Conflict course at the United States Military Academy.

MAJ Ford has conducted Foreign Internal Defense and Counterinsurgency operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

MAJ Ford’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal with three Campaign Stars, and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. He is a recipient the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Special Forces Tab, the Ranger Tab, and Parachutist Badge.
