Nursery developments

Happy New Year!

It is lovely to see everyone back at little Feet and I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

As you are aware, Emily gave birth to little Baby Evan on 25th November 2017 and they are all doing well!

Baby Evan

Alana has now gone on maternity leave and is expecting her baby at the beginning on February so I will keep you updated!

Laura has now gone full time and has taken over Emily’s role as Deputy Manager and Dani is still 3rd in Charge. Georgina, Gabby and Elysia have increased their hours and I am also looking for another person to come and join our team. I will let you know when the right person has been chosen and they will work alongside Laura, Gabby and Georgina to ensure the smooth running and consistency for all the children in the Oompa Loompa Room.

Thank you to everyone that contributed to the Toilet Twinning. Our raised funds have been sent off and as soon as we received the official certificate and photos, I will share them with you.

Over the next term, we are going to be looking at lots of different topics with the children some of which are Winter, hot/cold and recognition.

We are in the process of putting parent boards up in the corridor, where the Muggle Wumps and Oompa Loompas coats are. These board will let you know what we are doing with the children in the Muggle Wumps and Oompa Loompas Rooms and how you can help contribute towards their learning. Please check the boards weekly to find out what we are up to and for extra activities you can do at home with them!

If you have any ideas or things you could contribute towards the topics or boards, please let your key person know.

Library and Chatterboxes

We have a small library at Little Feet which we would love more children to join and have access to. You can join for a one-off payment of £3. If your child is in the library, you can change your child’s book with them each week. We also have ‘Chatter box library’ which has boxes of activities in for you to take home and do with your child. This is also located on the corridor up towards the dining area. Once you have paid your £3 joining fee, you can access both libraries. We are also advising that you spend at least 5 minutes a day looking at a story with your child.

Uniform

If you would like to order any uniform for your child, you can find the order forms in the reception area. Please note payment is required at time of order. Cash or cheque please. We can get the uniform in sizes 1-2 yrs, 3-4 yrs and 5-6 yrs.

We would like to encourage all the pre-school to wear the uniform as it will help them to take another stepping stone in preparing them for when they go to school.

Woodland Group

This term Woodland Group will be taking place on a Friday 9.30am-11.30am starting on 6th January and running until February 10th. This term we are going to be looking at copy of the planning can be located on the notice board in Muggle Wumps room.

Please remember to send suitable clothing and footwear for your child or they may miss out on going.

Phone numbers and Email addresses

Please can you let nursery have your up to date contact details in case we need to contact you or for any nursery correspondence.

Fees

Invoices are issued on the 1st of each month. Please can I remind you that fees need to be paid by 10th of each month to avoid late payment charges.

Reminders

Please can you ensure that your child has a spare set of clothes for nursery and that all clothes are labeled with their names to avoid things being lost or misplaced.

Can we also remind parents/carer that we need adequate notice to be able to book children in for extra hours or session as it affects the ratios of staff to children and we can not always accommodate them. We also need 48 hours notice to cancel any extra session booked or you will still be charged for them.

We also need 4 weeks notice to make any changes to your child’s contract.

Please can you make sure that your child is not dropped off earlier or picked up later than their booked session as this has an impact on the staff ratios. Any child collected late from nursery will be issued with a late payment charge.

As the weather is very unpredictable, can you please make sure you send suitable clothing for your child, especially for outdoors and that ALL items are clothing are clearly labeled with your child’s name.

If your child is booked in for breakfast, can you please make sure your child is at nursery no later than 8.20am as we are finding a lot of children are coming in at 8.30-9.00am and still requiring breakfast. This has a huge impact on the start of the day as the rooms cannot split off until the children have finished breakfast therefore lose out of important parts of their nursery day.

Footwear

If possible, can you send your child to nursery with shoes that either slip on or fasten with velcro. This helps the children become more independent by putting their own shoes on and makes getting ready to go outside quicker so we have more time for outdoor play.

Safeguarding

Due to safeguarding guidelines we have to adhere to can I ask all parents to refrain from using their mobile phone within nursery at any time. If you need to answer your phone, please can you leave the nursery rooms and take any calls in the porch area.

Can I also remind you to please make sure that the front door is closed properly behind you and that you do not let anybody in to the nursery. If you could ask people to ring the bell, then a member of staff will answer the door.

Can you let nursery know if your child will be absent from nursery for sickness/holidays etc. If your child does not attend their usual session and we do not receive a phone call or email to let us know why then we have a duty to ring you to see where/how they are.

Medication

Please can you make sure that if your child has been sick or had diarrhea that they do not return to nursery until 48 hours AFTER the Last bout of sickness/diarrhea.

If your child is prescribed antibiotics, they need to have been on them for 24 HOURS BEFORE they can return to nursery.

Can you please be aware that if you feel your child needs regular doses of paracetamol/calpol throughout the day when they are here, you need to decide if they are they well enough to be at nursery.

If your child is on a term time contract, please make sure you inform the office what hours they will be attending in the holidays.

Thank You again for your continued support
