Focus: Mapping

· Purposes, functions, and types of maps.

· Review various definitions not limited to but including, latitude, longitude, declination, hachure marks, elevation, contour and anything related to contouring, clinometer, astrolabe, Mercator projection, benchmark, relief, etc.

· Review all power points and pdf.’s on my website related to mapping-latitude, longitude, topographical map reading, map exploration, investigation, navigation, map elements.

· Have a “general” understanding for the history of maps. Review power point on website.

· Know where most earthquakes in the world occur.

· Review and understand information from Map webquest investigation.

· Review and understand online introduction to maps assignment.

· Review and understand topographical maps-ecological webquest assignment.

· Know how to apply your knowledge from the contour map labs A and B.

· Know and be able to apply your knowledge from map reading and contour mapping symbols document.

The format of the twiz will be part multiple choice, part short answer, and part application of map reading skills. Here, a contour map will be given and you must answer the questions to demonstrate your comprehension of topographical maps and contour symbol reading skills.
