Differentiated Instruction:
Red Hots: Teacher guided reading using chunking and whole class completion of the graphic organizer using the story from the Reading Workshop.
Lemon Heads: Whole Class reading of the text and completion of the graphic organizer using the Reading Workshop Book. The story in the Literature Anthology will be read as a whole class, but the graphic organizer will be completed independently.
Jolly Ranchers: In lieu of the literacy drill, this group will be participate in whole class writing activities and whole class reading of the story in the Reading Workshop. The class will work cooperatively to complete a graphic organizer. The Literature Anthology will be used for partner reading and completing a graphic organizer. The class will discuss the students' finding and the teacher will create a class graphic organizer using the students' findings.
