Title: Investment Research Officer

Location: Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou

The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) is looking for an energetic and highly skilled professional to join our team in China as an Investment Research Officer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to research to identify and qualify potential investors in China. Specifically this role will research and develop investment case materials outlining Australian capability and market opportunities for presentation by Investment Managers to potential investors. In addition, this role will assist in meeting investors’ information needs; Assist with the promotion of Australia as an attractive investment destination, by managing relationships and successfully executing investment attraction priorities and strategies.

Duties:

·  Undertake research to identify, qualify and profile potential investors.

·  Analyse inwards investment and export data to build investment case materials and undertake related research and analysis to identify market trends.

·  Assist with the development, administration and record keeping for in-market investment attraction, promotional programs and investor engagement.

·  Produce and provide detailed research and information about the commercial and financial benefits of investing in Australia.

·  Assist with fostering linkages with key government officials and allies in the post in the support of enhancing market access, in accordance with regional business and inwards investment plans.

·  Source and assist with the use of industry sector specific capability information to identify and target potential overseas investors through networking, sponsorships and direct contact.

·  Achieve agreed key performance indicator (KPI) targets.

·  Contribute to knowledge creation within Austrade by adopting innovative practices, sharing knowledge and embracing development opportunities.

·  Work collaboratively within the Austrade network to contribute to service delivery, while supporting diversity in the workplace, Austrade Code of Conduct and occupational health & safety principles

Selection Criteria:

1.  Understanding of investment attraction and promotion dynamics in China.

2.  Solid written and verbal communication, report writing, interpersonal and negotiation skills. Capacity to prepare charts, graphs, tables and other information tools to a high standard (with support from Marketing Manager).

3.  Demonstrated research, analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to turn information into insight for investors.

4.  Ability to represent Australia and Austrade in the local market environment.

5.  Full professional fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese

The location for this position can be based either in Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou depends on the location of successful candidate.
